The Portuguese students and teachers on volcanic trail.

On the 30th January some teachers and sudents of the project joined a larger group of people at the base of the volcanic cone of Pico and walked along one of the most astonishing landascapes of the island as far as geology and volcanism is concerned. Before starting the trail the guide gave some information about what could be observed, namely secondary volcanic cones, small craters and the flora around them. However, due to the wheather conditions, at the beginning, the fog and the rain made it quite impossible to observe a significant part of what we were expected to see. Even so, the students enjoyed this activity a lot and learnt a bit more about the formation of their island and the mountain from which its name comes from.
